Children Training in the Martial Arts!
The physical training involved in Kyokushin Karate develops coordination and increases strength and flexibility, which is important during these years of physical change. Kyokushin Karate is a very exciting martial art that focuses on character development, physical fitness and practical self-defense.

Our classes are highly structured, where students are constantly encouraged to do their best. As a result students learn self-discipline, improved concentration & focus, improved fitness & stamina, self confidence and the ability to focus under pressure.
Emphasis is placed on establishing discipline and courtesy in the child. The structure of respect is woven into the very fabric of Kyokushin instruction, with conceding to and obeying senior belts and complying with the teacher’s instructions without question.
The development of self-discipline and courtesy helps to build positive social interactions with authority figures and with peers. Accordingly, self-confidence will improve as the child learns to take control over his or her reactions and in turn will develop the ability to stand up to peer pressure and other intimidating situations.
Because my Kyokushin Karate classes are specifically designed for children, the special needs of this group are addressed. During these important years, children are faced with internal and external conflict, moral dilemmas, school-based challenges and many other issues that may be new to them.
We provide the mental skills necessary to deal with aggression and end conflict peacefully. Our classes also teaches kids how to defend themselves and escape holds, punches and kicks if they do become the targets of violence.
Once children learn the self-confidence that comes from knowing how to protect themselves, they learn the value of finding non-violent ways to resolve conflict. Because the very foundation of Kyokushin is self-defense, we are careful to teach children that Kyokushin is not to be used outside of the Kyokushin class in any manner other than true self-defense.
The result is a self-confident child who does not need to bully or show off to other children. In a safe and controlled environment, kids will practice light-to-no-contact freestyle sparring to develop timing and deal with the stress of an attack.
This allows them to acquire self-defense and accuracy. They can safely practice their punches, blocks and kicks in an atmosphere of healthy competition and cooperation and learn proper sportsmanship. A sense of fair play is reinforced as all kids may participate regardless of experience.
Our Kyokushin Karate classes is especially valuable to those children who do not thrive in the sometimes overly competitive world of team sports. In our classes each child is given time to learn at his or her own pace and to value his or her accomplishments.
We recognize that each child progresses at an individual rate. Children are taught that mistakes are not synonymous with failure, but rather those mistakes allow us to learn and improve. Children are taught to continue until they succeed at a task.
Perseverance will allow them to overcome obstacles. Students gain a sense of accomplishment and achievement as they earn increasingly higher levels of Kyokushin belts. Because the length of time for achieving belts can range from three months to a year, we award stripes on the current belt as the child progresses between levels.
Training for tests and succeeding at challenges enhance the child’s ability to concentrate, to focus and to plan for and triumph over learning hurdles. This is an excellent reinforcement of study techniques for school. We believe that what is learned at karate should be applied to the child’s everyday life and therefore communication with the home and school is key.
In my Kyokushin Karate classes i create an atmosphere of cooperation in which kids can help each other and are rewarded for doing so. I teach them leadership skills and how to work within group settings. As kids practice self-defense techniques with each other, they learn to respect each other’s bodies and feelings.
Respect, courtesy, concentration and mental and physical strength are all developed. And finally, Kyokushin is good clean fun for kids and a great way to burn off extra energy.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. We believe in the value of our program for all ages, but especially the young, who gain many benefits from Kyokushin for the rest of their lives. Osu!
